What is Isklander?
Isklander is a three-part online escape experience, accessed via a web browser*, in which teams of players solve a cryptic mystery together. Choose from Part I: Plymouth Point, Part II: The Mermaid’s Tongue, or Part III: The Kindling Hour. Each game can be played separately, but playing the entire trilogy in order reveals the overarching narrative and leads to a thrilling finale.
Using a mix of live-action performances, newsreel footage, and fourth-wall-breaking research, players take on the role of sleuth as they investigate missing persons, murders, and clandestine conspiracies.
* Recommended browser is Google Chrome
How do you play Isklander?
The experience begins in online video conferencing software, with one member of the team sharing their screen and sound. Players hunt for clues and crack codes to piece together the story, working against a ticking clock.
You’ll get initial instructions via email. Then it’s up to you to see where the story takes you. Everything takes place online, and there’s plenty to explore. It’s really important that you DO NOT CHANGE ANY PASSWORDS and DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING. Any investigation where this seems to be the solution is heading in the wrong direction.
How much does it cost?
Isklander is currently available for corporate and group bookings only. Packages are available from £28 per person + VAT. Get in touch on
groups@swampmotel.co.uk to find out more.
How long do the games take to play?
Depending on your sleuthing skills, each game should take around 90 minutes, but be warned - there is a ticking clock counting down throughout each game, and when time runs out, the experience ends.
Which of the three games should I play?
The games tell a chronological story, so we recommend playing them in order, starting with Part I: Plymouth Point. Playing the entire trilogy in order reveals the overarching narrative and leads to a thrilling finale.
However, if you want to dip in and out, you could choose which experience sounds the most exciting to you:
Part I: Plymouth Point is a missing person hunt
Part II: The Mermaid’s Tongue is an art heist
Part III: The Kindling Hour is a corporate espionage thriller
Do I need to play all three games?

What if we get stuck? Is help provided?
The Isklander games are all about exploring and finding hidden clues. However, if you’re really stuck, you’ll be able to ask for advice within the game chatbox.
Does my team need to be physically together?
No. The Isklander games can be played remotely, with each team member on their own separate device, and one person sharing their screen with the team. You can also play together gathered around one laptop.
What electronic devices can I play on?
The Isklander games are designed to be played on a desktop computer or laptop, accessed via an internet browser. The recommended browser is Google Chrome.
Firefox, Safari and Edge are also compatible, although some technical difficulties may arise when using these browsers, so please use Google Chrome if possible. Internet Explorer is NOT supported.
The games are NOT compatible with tablets, including iPads, or mobile phones.
Should I turn off my ad blocker?
Yes. Ad blockers may prevent the games from running properly. Please ensure it is disabled before you begin.
How do I share my screen and sound?
So that your team can keep pace, you will want to elect someone to share their screen and sound. Once the game begins and you are in the video conference, you’ll see an option to ‘share screen’. Once you click that you will see an option to also share sound. This plays sound directly through your teammates speakers, rather than out of your speakers and back into your microphone.
What’s the recommended age range?
We recommend that players are over the age of 14, due to off-screen violence and occult themes.
